India's leopard population grew from 8K in 2014 to over 12K in 2018: Min

India's leopard population increased to 12,852 in 2018 from nearly 8,000 in 2014, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar said on Monday while releasing the 'Status of Leopards in India 2018' report. The maximum number of leopards were recorded in Madhya Pradesh at 3,421, Karnataka at 1,783 and Maharashtra at 1,690.
