India’s national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, was sung for the first time on December 27, 1911, at the 27th annual session of the Indian National Congress in Calcutta. Composed by Rabindranath Tagore, the anthem is also said to have been sung for King George V of England on his arrival in India. The official duration of the anthem is 52 seconds.
