India's NSE becomes world's largest derivatives exchange

India's National Stock Exchange (NSE) has surpassed US-based CME Group to become the world's largest derivatives exchange by volume, according to data published by Futures Industry Association (FIA). Contracts traded on NSE jumped 58% to 5.96 billion in 2019 surpassing CME's 4.83 billion. Notably, India's stock market is valued at $2.2 trillion compared with the US' $35.5 trillion.
