Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi implemented the Gold Control Act in 1968, due to which around 1,10,000 people went to jail, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey claimed on Tuesday. He also claimed that "lakhs of people were fined". This comes after the Opposition criticised PM Narendra Modi over his appeal to people to stop purchasing gold due to the Iran war.
