Indonesia's economy contracted in the July-September quarter, plunging into its first recession since the Asian financial crisis in 1998, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. South East Asia's biggest economy saw a contraction of 3.49% year-on-year in the third quarter, with tourism, construction and trade among the worst-hit sectors. During the April-June quarter, economy contracted 5.3%.
