The Indus Waters Treaty, signed in 1960 between India and Pakistan with World Bank assistance, divides six rivers between the two countries. India has full use of the eastern rivers Ravi, Beas and Sutlej, while Pakistan primarily uses the western rivers Indus, Jhelum and Chenab, with India allowed limited use. Any change requires agreement by both nations.
