INS Astradharini, an indigenously built vessel to carry out technical trials of underwater weapons and systems, was commissioned into the Indian Navy fleet on Tuesday. INS Astradharini will conduct trials of naval systems developed by DRDO's Naval Science and Technological Laboratory. INS Astradharini replaces INS Astravahini, which was decommissioned on July 16, 2015 after 31 years of service.
