Intact plant fossils found in Greenland ice core from 1966: Study

Scientists have found perfectly-preserved plant fossils in ice core collected from Greenland in 1966 by US Army scientists, the University of Vermont said. The scientists had drilled down through nearly a mile of ice and pulled up a 15-foot-long tube of dirt from the bottom. Scientists said the finding suggested Greenland must have been ice-free within the last million years.
