Intel to lay off 24,000 workers, cancels factory projects

Intel will lay off about 24,000 employees and cancel major factory projects to cut costs and boost profits. New CEO Lip-Bu Tan called these “hard but necessary decisions,” emphasising spending discipline and aligning production with actual demand. The $28 billion Ohio chip plant’s completion is delayed beyond 2030. Intel faces tough competition and reported six straight quarters of losses.
