Intense workouts not needed to build muscle: Study

A new study suggests high-effort workouts that cause soreness are not needed to improve muscle size, strength or performance. It found eccentric exercise, where muscles lengthen during movements like lowering a weight or walking downstairs, can build strength using less energy. The study said it also puts less strain on the heart and lungs, making it suitable for older adults.
