The world on Thursday observed International Human Rights Day which is celebrated on December 10 every year. The celebrations commemorate the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Human Rights Day was formally established at the 317th Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly on December 4, 1950.
