International Widows' Day, a day dedicated by the United Nations "to give special recognition to the situation of widows of all ages and across regions and cultures", is observed on June 23 every year. While the day was established by The Loomba Foundation in 2005, the UN formally announced observing June 23 as the International Widows' Day in December 2010.
