Internet fibre can secretly listen to users' conversations: Study

A newly published cybersecurity study found a critical side-channel vulnerability in telecom fibre-optic cables that can be exploited for acoustic eavesdropping. The system has ability to recover sensitive information, including human conversation, by analysing sound-induced vibrations in the fibre. The attack requires access to one end of the cable and does not rely on compromising user devices.
