Intrusive and psychotic thoughts common among new parents: Study

A University of East Anglia study revealed that intrusive thoughts and psychotic-like experiences are common among new parents. Nearly all participants reported distressing thoughts, with 31% at risk of psychosis. These experiences increase stress, lower parenting confidence, and affect family wellbeing. Researchers urged awareness, early screening, and targeted mental health support for parents.
