Investors' wealth tumbled over ₹2.16 lakh crore on Monday as markets crashed amid a sharp spike in coronavirus cases in the country. The BSE Sensex plummeted 1,449.03 points during intra-day trade and finally closed 870.51 points lower at 49,159.32. Despite stable global cues, the Indian indices ended with losses as the country recorded the biggest spike with 1,03,558 new cases.
