IPL tickets will get costlier from September 22 as the new two-slab GST structure will come into effect. The government clarified that admission to sporting events like IPL (excluding recognised sporting events) will attract 40% GST, up from 28% GST. Meanwhile, movie tickets under ₹100 to be taxed 5%, down from 12%, while GST on tickets above ₹100 remains unchanged.
