The UP government suspended Ankit Mittal, a 2014-batch IPS officer, on Monday after an inquiry into allegations of "domestic violence" and other "misconduct" made by his wife. The state government based its decision on an inquiry initiated after receiving a complaint from Mittal's wife. Mittal, who hails from Haryana, was transferred from his role as SP in Gonda last December.
