Iran and Afghanistan have reached a water-sharing agreement under the Helmand River Water Treaty signed between the two countries in 1973, Afghan media reported citing a Taliban source. As per the treaty, Kabul is required to share water from the Helmand River with Tehran at a rate of 850 million cubic meters per annum.
