Iran has introduced a new pricing tier for its nationally subsidised gasoline, attempting to rein in spiralling costs. This change comes for the first time since 2019, which sparked nationwide protests that reportedly killed over 300 people. As per revised system, motorists who purchase over 160 litres/month would have to pay 50,000 riyal/litre, while 60 litres remains at 15,000 riyal/litre.
