A major preservation and digitisation project is underway in Mosul to restore irreplaceable books and manuscripts in the Baghdad National Library, owing to IS threat of destroying the city's history and culture. Digital archives are reportedly being maintained to prevent attacks and will be opened to public later. The library had previously suffered serious damage during US' invasion of Iraq.
