The preliminary voter turnout in Iraq's parliamentary election on Sunday was the lowest ever at 41%. The election was held months ahead of schedule in response to mass protests led by youth in late 2019 and early 2020 against corruption and mismanagement. However, several reports indicate that the elections were boycotted by the youth.
