If an individual has had a heart attack before, Dietitian Garima Dev Verman notes that regularly eating maida - refined flour found in many snacks - can raise LDL cholesterol and inflammation, both linked with heart disease progression and risk. Overdoing maida-based foods may also lead to weight gain, making heart recovery harder. These treats should be consumed occasionally, not everyday.
