The new leader of the insurgent group Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), Malam Bako, was killed in a military operation this month, the Nigerian Army said on Thursday. This comes two weeks after it announced the death of the group's former head Abu Musab al-Barnawi. ISWAP had split from rival Boko Haram in 2016.
