The Maharashtra government issued a gazette on Tuesday and declared that Islampur in Sangli district is now being renamed as Ishwarpur. The government also notified that Islampur Nagar Parishad will be named as Urun Ishwarpur Nagar Parishad. This comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs accepted the proposal of the state government to change the names earlier.
