Israel's ballistic missile shield, Arrow 3, has become operational in a 'Star Wars'-like extension of the country's capabilities allowing it to shoot down incoming missiles above the atmosphere. Arrow serves as the top tier of an integrated Israeli shield, the bottom tier of which is the 'Iron Dome' interceptor which Israel used in the 2014 Gaza war against Palestinian militants.
