ISRO Chairman S Somanath announced that ISRO will launch India’s first home-grown electric propulsion-led spacecraft in December. The Technology Demonstrator (TDS-1) will use electric propulsion instead of fuel-based thrusters. The electric propulsion system (EPS) will bring down the overall mass of a satellite as chemical fuel is not required in bulk.
