Italy court upholds 16-yr sentence of doomed ship's captain

Italy's highest court has upheld the 16-year jail sentence of Francesco Schettino, the captain of the Costa Concordia cruise that capsized in 2012, leaving 32 dead. Schettino was convicted of causing a maritime accident, manslaughter and abandoning ship before passengers and crew were evacuated. Prosecutors said he steered too close to the island to show off to a female friend.
