Italy town to get €150 mn statue amid public ire

The Mayor of the Italian town, Campania, has announced plans of constructing an 85-metre-tall statue of the Italian saint Padre Pio in a €150-million project, which has provoked public anger. The town is reportedly facing a financial slowdown wherein residents do not even have water every day. The statue, if constructed, will stand taller than the 46-metre-tall Statue of Liberty.
