The Income Tax department issued clarification regarding concerns raised by certain NRIs and Overseas Citizens of India on PAN cards becoming inoperative. The department said PAN cards have not been declared inoperative if any of the two criteria—filing income tax return once in the last three years and intimating about their residential status to Jurisdictional Assessing Officer—have been met.
