Jacob Rothschild, the financier and a senior member of the Rothschild banking family, has passed away at the age of 87. He started his career at the family bank NM Rothschild & Sons in 1963. He then co-founded J Rothschild Assurance Group, now known as St James's Place. Rothschild was also known for being a long-standing patron of the arts.
