Jain monk Acharya Nayan Padmasagar claimed that Maharani Tarabai Bhonsle, the legendary Maratha queen who fought against Aurangzeb, belonged to the Jain community, triggering a row. The monk also claimed that Marathi language originated from Jain roots.
