NASA launched an investigation after James Webb Space Telescope suffered a sensor glitch in one of its key instruments, Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), earlier this month. Officials found discrepancy in data during a routine performance monitoring and calibration of all 17 observing modes of the telescope. It turned out that MIRI's sensors were receiving less than the expected amount of light.
