Department of Financial Services' Secretary M Nagaraju said that currently Jan Dhan accounts hold balances of about ₹2.75 lakh crore in banks across the country. "[This] translates to approximately ₹4,815 per account. About 78.2% of…accounts are in rural or semi-urban areas," he added. A total of ₹3.67 lakh crore has been transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer in current financial year.
