Japan must compensate ex-Nissan Chairman for arbitrary arrest: UN panel

The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention on Monday ruled that Former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn's multiple arrests and detentions in Japan were "arbitrary" and urged Japanese government to pay compensation. Japan said the panel doesn't have an "accurate understanding of the country's criminal justice system". Ghosn, who was arrested in 2018 in Japan, fled to Lebanon last year.
