A section of a road in the Japanese city of Fukuoka was repaired in two days after a sinkhole formed, although safety checks delayed the reopening. The 98-foot-long and 49-foot-deep sinkhole swallowed a section of the four-lane street. The incident caused power cuts and disrupted phone signals, and gas and water supplies, but there were no reports of injuries.
