Japan's child population fell to 13.29 million as of April 1, 2026, marking the 45th consecutive year of decline, according to government data. The number declined by 3,50,000 compared to the previous year, reaching its lowest level since 1950. The figures showed 6.81 million boys and 6.48 million girls. Children now account for 10.8% of Japan's total population
