Japan's Hayabusa2 spacecraft is preparing for one of the closest asteroid flybys ever attempted by a mission of its kind on July 5. The spacecraft will pass within about 1 km of near-Earth asteroid Torifune, giving scientists a chance to study the object. Developed by JAXA, Hayabusa2 previously collected samples from asteroid Ryugu and returned them to Earth in 2020.
