Japanese engineering company Shimizu Corporation has proposed building a massive solar panel belt around the Moon's equator, stretching about 11,000 km long and 400 km wide. Called the Luna Ring, this system would transmit energy to Earth using laser beams. It could generate up to 13,000 terawatts of electricity, which is much more than the present global energy demand.
