Japan will downgrade ties with China in its annual report, dropping the "one of the most important" tag and calling it "strategic and mutually beneficial" relationship, Reuters reported. It cited tensions over rare earth curbs, radar lock-ons and increased pressure around Taiwan. Japan last year said it could deploy its military if a Chinese move against Taiwan threatened its territory.
