Japan uses steam to propel Moon spacecraft successfully

Japan's space agency successfully used steam to propel its EQUULEUS spacecraft. "This is the world's first successful orbit control beyond low-Earth orbit using a water propellant propulsion system," the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (Jaxa) claimed. After flying past the Moon, EQUULEUS used an engine named AQUARIUS that uses water as fuel to get to the second Earth-Moon Lagrange point (EML2).
