Japan's Astroscale launches space junk removal satellite prototype

Japanese space startup Astroscale successfully launched a satellite ELSA-d, for the removal of space debris, aboard Russia's Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket. ELSA-d is a prototype, intended to demonstrate the current state of the technology intended to help clear the junk. The technology aims to dock with, and then safely remove, orbital debris.
