Cats outnumber humans by about six to one on the Japanese island of Aoshima, which is known as one of the 'cat islands' in the region. First introduced to deal with a mice problem on ships, the cats multiplied with time and continued to reside on Aoshima island. The island reportedly houses around 15 people.
