Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said that the practice of Jauhar, or self-immolation by women facing capture by invaders, should be considered different from Sati. He added that wherever BJP ruled in the country, they attempted to distort history. This comes after a picture in Rajasthan Class 8 textbooks suggesting self-immolation was replaced by picture of a hill fort.
