Jharkhand declares 'emergency' after wild elephant kills 22 people

Jharkhand government declared an 'elephant emergency' after a wild elephant went on a rampage in West Singhbhum district, killing at least 22 people, officials said. The forest department deployed over 100 personnel to track and capture the elephant, but three attempts to tranquillise it failed. Authorities believe the animal is likely in musth, a hormone-driven state that increases aggression.
