JK Rowling donates $18.8M to research centre named after her mother

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has donated $18.8 million towards multiple sclerosis research at a centre named after her late mother, Anne Volant Rowling, who died of the disease. The donation will be used for new facilities at the Anne Rowling Clinic in Scotland's University of Edinburgh. The clinic was started after a $12.5-million donation by Rowling in 2010.
