Joymala, Kaziranga's patrol elephant who battled a tiger in 2004, dies at 66

In Assam's Kaziranga National Park, patrol elephant Joymala died on Sunday at age of 66 after serving over 34 years in anti-poaching patrols, wildlife rescue operations and forest protection duties. State Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah paid tribute as she was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour. Joymala attained fame in 2004 when a tiger leapt over her during a patrol.
