While granting relief to an Industries Extension Officer whose services were allocated to the State of Jharkhand after the promulgation of the Bihar Reorganisation Act, 2003, the Supreme Court has given a very important decision. The court held that statutory provisions of the Act, particularly Section 34(4), mandate that judicial orders of Patna High Court continue to bind the successor state.
