Union Cabinet announced the formation of the 8th Pay Commission with Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai as its Chairperson. Desai was an ex-Supreme Court Judge and Chairperson of Delimitation Commission, where she oversaw the redrawing of assembly constituencies in J&K, resulting in final order of 90 assembly seats. The 8th Pay Commission will revise salaries of nearly 50 lakh government staffers.
