A juvenile gharial was sighted in Kakodonga River in Assam's West Karbi Anglong district, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, sharing a picture. He further said that the sighting reflected the steady revival of Assam's natural ecosystems and it encourages protection of the rich biodiversity that defines the state. There are only 800 of them at present, according to the WWF.
