Juvenile Justice Bill passed in Rajya Sabha

The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed the Juvenile Justice Bill to reduce the age of juveniles from 18 to 16 years in the court of law. The bill also raises minimum punishment from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment for heinous crimes. Though the bill was passed with majority, the CPI (M) staged a walk out opposing the bill.
